I'm not a big cocktail mixer, but I saw this recipe in the last bon appetite and had all the ingredients on hand, so I made it for Lindsay this afternoon in front of Lindsay for myself, Jason and Holly, Julie and Andy also came over for a picnic that we had inside for fear of bad weather. (I didn't have enough to make drinks for everyone, and Holly was up early, which is why she was unlucky.)

They are damn strong and could actually benefit from being tense and we all wanted more sugar, but they were refreshing and tasty! (Oh, and we don't have a cocktail shaker, so I half assumed it.)

Raspberry Smash
2 slices of lime
Sugar (for diving)
1/2 cup fresh raspberries
6 tablespoons of vodka
4 teaspoons of sugar
1 1/2 cups of ice cubes
1/4 cup chilled champagne

Pass a wedge of lime around the edges of 2 old-fashioned glasses. Dip the rims in sugar. Put both lime wedges, raspberries, vodka and 4 teaspoons of sugar in a cocktail shaker. Crush the fruit mix with a muddler or wooden spoon handle. Add ice; Shake for 10 seconds. Spread between the glasses (do not strain), cover with champagne and serve.
